View Full Version : DMC-FZ5 filter/conversion lens
I looked up some filters and conversion lens for my DMC-FZ5(that just got 2 y/o) and I found only one brand, opteka - someone has any experience w/ them? or other suggestions? I'm not looking for anything in particular just as a company.

Here is a site that even though written for a FZ30 the advice is pretty good for all FZs.

That opteka stuff is not much good.
Olympus, and Raynox make decent lenses and Hoya makes good filters.
the adapter on your FZ5 is 52mm so if you get a lens like the tcon17 that is 55mm you will need a 52mm to 55mm stepup ring.
But there are lenses with 52mm threads.... in a wide angle the dcr6600 comes to mind
k thx. now I have two more questions: 1) every 52mm filter will work w/ my camera?
2)do you know a good store (I don't want very high-end filters, something not expensive) that ships worldwide?

I would have no problem recommending this store and this filter....but you may do better on Ebay....
I feel a Multicoated filter is worth the extra money or do not use a filter at all.

And yes any 52mm filter will fit the adapter of the FZ5.
At times some filter threads are shorter than others....if that would happen to you we can show you how to fix that problem. It invollves sanding the adapter a bit but is very simple to do.
