I just ordered the Z712 IS. I know it comes with a CRV3, but according to Kodaks website there are other batteries that are compatible with it. What battery do you all use in your camera? I'm fairly new to digital camera, so any info would be much appreciated.

Hi,
Any AA NiH´s are easy to find. I recomended 2500-2700 AA but they last for a few photos. Other one, CR-V3 from Kodak or other brands is other alternative. Also you can buy CR-V3 lithium rechargable with the battery charger or the klic 8000 original Kodak rechargable or other brand(try http://www.bestbatt.com/Kodak_KLIC_8000_Battery_p/bbklic8000-01.htm). The battery charger for Klic 8000 (original or not) it is NOT compatible with CR-V3 rechargable battery

i would recommend getting 2500mah from energizer! i currently own a kodak Z712is and man klic-8000 isnt cheap nor is the charger! i was looking for some rechargable cr-v3 theres one made by emerging power but i havent found one here in the states that sells them they are rated at 3v at 3000mah.

you best bet would be to use 2500mah energizer batt's along with their 15min chargers, i have been using 2200mah energizers and i get like 200 to 240 shots per pair! i think thats reasonable enough! cause it only cost like 9.99$ per 2 pairs!

at kodak they said that cr-v3 is rated at 300 to 350 shots, klic-8000 300 - 400, well for 2 pairs of energizer AA's for 9.994 you get 400 shots, and i guarantee that! you get somewhere from 400 to 450 i guess!

i just bought some 2650mah duracells, only things is i really dont know if it would work with 15min chargers of energizer cause energizer only has 2500mah batt's!

only problem is you have to change batt's more often than cr-v3 or klic-8000, but i can live with that! and one more draw back to using metal hydrides is, it discharges alot more fster even thou your not using it! but not that much! from what i have been reading like 20% for one month!

anyway you have fun with your camera!

if you have anymore questions feel free to ask away!

heres the link to the batt i was talking about!

also radioshack offers a 1800mah cr-v3 battery thats rated at 3v check it out! only thing is i havent seen a metal hydride battery that rated at 3v cause one cell is always rated at 1.2v so that should only be 2.4v but if it is rated at 3v that would be great even thou its only rated at 1800mah atleast you'll have a longer sustaining voltage of 3v as oppose to 2.4v

thats the problem with kodak z712is it has a lower cut off voltage. so even thou your batt cells have ample amount of charge, it cant power up the camera! i hope kodak would release a new firmware to the camera fixing this! or could this be just a way for us consumers to buy their proprietary battery

but still i have to thank kodak! for letting use AA's as oppose to the Z612 camera only klic-8000!

i just hope that energizer sooner or later would come up with a battery with higher mah's like 3000mah or 3500mah for AA's he he he he!

but then again i have to buy new chargers! ;-)

i would be alittle hesitant buying this since it doesnt say how many amps this batt has! but then again all the reviews and so on!

I included my personal file on the Kodak Z712. It has the documentation and information you need to keep your camera details organized.
