Budget: $500 (give or take $100)
Size: Preferably a compact but willing to look at others.
I'm an active track athlete and love taking pictures of my teammates and other athletes running. I want good quality pictures but they don't have to be amazing. Good enough to keep them from looking blurred. I'd also like a short shutter lag if possible. I don't know much about cameras but am willing to learn about manual controls if necessary.
Most pictures will be outside but occasionally there will be indoor shots. Also because I can't get up close to some events, I'd like some kind of zoom. (I'm not expecting too much for a zoom)
I want a compact (or if possible Ultra-Compact) because it's easier to carry around and takes up less space. But I can adjust to whatever I have too.
I was looking at the Nikon 40D and the Canon S3 IS but the biggest draw backs are their size. Just a little bigger then I want.
I'm open to all brands and models and any suggestions about what to look for would be greatly appreciated.
