Hello!
I'm about to buy a digital camera but cant make my choice from the huge market proposal.
I have some clear ideas of criterias I'd want :

- standard zoom
- good macro mode (5cm minimum)
- short time between shots (with or withouth flash)
- burst mode
- max price ~200euros ( ~ 270$)

most black and white in camera sucks
quality ISO? 1000? I doubt there is a decent point and shoot that has low noise above 800 ISO..

Ah thanks, why do the B&W suck?
Alright so you mean 800 iso is enough?

I think i understand now for the ISO, I was that mainly I wont even use 1000 and more. I think that 800 is enough for me then :)

just in cam black and white seems to be so bland and pale
well I'd say clean 200 ISO would be excellent!

Pretty much all cameras have some kind of burst mode; how many shots per second are you looking for?

Shot to shot with flash is going to be slow on any compact camera; they just don't have the battery power to keep that going. What type of performance are you looking for?

Easy and excellent black and white conversions can be made via Picasa, a free photo editing program from Google. Just use 'filtered b&w', and you can choose from any color under the sun to apply in creating your b&w photo. Colored filters add a level of dynamism to a black and white photo by allowing you to choose which elements are lighter, or less vivid, and which are darker, or more vivid.

Alright thanks again for all answers!
Concerning the burst, I dont have some precise number in mind. I think above 2pics/sec is quite enough.
I feel like doing some "funny" stuf also with the cam, like shooting someone while jumping to the water and that alike. And I just fear to find out after few months that the camera I bought isnt good enough for what I'd like to try / do with it.

Maybe I could just say I need a short "shot to shot" time withouth flash?
I saw on some feedback through the net that some nice cams are spoiled with their painfuly long shot-to-shot time.

Concerning the b&w I think i'm fixed, some PC program will be enough :)
