Hi all,

My wife and I have just got married and we've received a lot of vouchers to spend in John Lewis Department Store. We're looking to buy a digital camera and these are the models they stock in our price range:

Archos AVCam 300 Digital Camera and Camcorder £218
Canon IXUS IIs Digital Camera £229
Canon PowerShot A75 Digital Camera £219
Casio EXILIM EX-Z30 Digital Camera £249
Fuji FinePix A340 Zoom Digital Camera £179
Fuji Zoom Digital Camera, S3000 £189
Fuji Digital Camera, S5000 £249
HP Photosmart R707 Digital Camera £249
Kodak Easyshare LS743 Zoom Digital Camera £249
Nikon Coolpix 3200 Digital Camera £199
Olympus Digital Camera, Mju 300 £224
Olympus Mju 400 Digital Camera £249
Olympus Digital Camera, C-5000ZOOM £259
Sony DSCP73 Digital Camera £249
Sony Cyber-Shot Digital Camera, DSC-F77 £249

Which one should we go for? - We're digital camera newbies.
This site has a good review of the Canon A75 so I'm leaning towards that one, but can anyone spot a better deal in the list?

We have to buy from this shop as we have vouchers

Any advice greatly appreciated

thx

It would help if you would give us a little bit of information of what you want to do with your camera. Do you want to take photos of birds ~50 meters away, candid shots of people ~3 meters away, close up shots to sell on ebay ~5 cm away. Did you actually handle any of the cameras and come up with at least a few that you prefer. A camera that someone recommends, but you can't stand how it feels in your hands, will not be a good choice for you, regardless of the quality of photos it takes.

All that said, out of that list, I would take the Sony P73 or Canon A75.

thanks Ray,

It would be for general family use - nothing very specialised.

Having said that it would be nice to get pictures with a good resolution with a view to printing out the best ones.

having snatches of video would be good too.

I haven't handled any of them but I wanted a shortlist to go the shop with

thx
