It looks like Tamron has suffered a set back in the release of the 28-300mm VC lens.

Here's a copy of the release hold notification:

Notice:

Model A20 - Canon AF28-300mm F/3.5-6.3 XR Di VC

Dear Customers,

Thank you for your ongoing patronage.

We regret to inform you that we are postponing shipments of the Canon mount AF28-300mm F/3.5-6.3 XR Di VC zoom lenses due to a technical problem in part of the VC (vibration compensation) mechanism.

We are doing our utmost to solve this problem as quickly as possible. We will inform you of the revised shipping dates as soon as we know when it will be.

We wish to express our deepest apologies for this inconvenience.

Thank you for your understanding.

Tamron USA, Inc.

At least they had the guts to admit error rather that put a shoddy product on the market and try solving the problem later. I think consumers could use more of that.

Man, I could not agree more "totally" ... I figure Canon should do their own product recall, pop IS-in-the-body and a bigger sensor, then redistribute in November ... to catch Nikon by surprise. :D

Talk about a major move for respect ... they'd have my dollar the day the item hit the shelf. Where's my wallet?

Don, I took your wallet. I'm adding built-in stabilization, so you will never find yourself out of cash. Don't mess with it, though; it's my patent!
