i just got my brand new canon XTi. sooo excited to try it out... and then i discovered a dead pixel on the LCD
it's just a single small one towards the edge, but not having a perfect product after dishing out so much $$$ is quite disappointing.
what would you do? do you think i should go through the trouble of exchanging it with Newegg or just live with it since it doesn't technically affect the image itself?
Thanks for your advice on this petty problem! :o
Its up to you. If the pixel is in a very unnoticeable spot then you may forget about it in time but your right it does suck when you dish out money and something like that happens. Totally your call.

thanks for your response! i know it's such a petty thing, but i just wanted to hear someone else's rational voice as i am overwhelmed by my excitement for my new toy :p i'm taking it back for a replacement... i figured it's going to drive me nuts eventually, no matter how small the imperfection.

I thought that NewEgg has a 10 dead pixel (minimum) policy..?

On digital cameras? That only applies to computer monitors and TV's. It'd be rather unfair to apply the same rules for a 1920 x 1200 screen and a 640 x 480 screen. Phones are also in that boat too since most still have pretty low resolution.

I have one dead pixel on my monitor but its 1680x1050 and its extremely hard to see even if your really close to the monitor. That and it only shows in white and shades of gray :D

Ah, I gotcha. I was under the impression that it was a generic policy. So I'm assuming for small screens (Digital Cameras, Phones, et cetera) the dead pixel policy is either a much smaller number, or zero?
