I am getting Vista soon and I heard that the picture transfer wizard is not as capable as the XP version. Also, my all-in-1 card reader strangely can only see a small part of the pics on my type H 1GB xd card.

What do you guys use in Vista to transfer pics to the pc?
Is the Fuji software any good for Vista?
If you use a card reader, which one do you use/recommend?

I heard that Vista doesn't even support many popular printers.
What else will stuff up should I upgrade now? I will hang on to WinXP.

For the card reader, this (http://sandisk.com/Products/Item(1151)-SDDR-99-A15-SanDisk_ImageMate_5In1_ReaderWriter.aspx) will work with your Type H card.

Are you sure that card reader is compatible with Windows Vista?
On system requirement it says: Pentium class PC with USB support Windows 98SE, 2000, ME, XP. As I said before the problem with Vista is not everything is backward compatible like previous versions of Windows or DOS.

I believe the description is referring to the requirements for the ImageMate software that comes with the reader, which is useless IMO. XP recognized and configured the drivers automatically upon inserting it into my machine (without having installed the ImageMate software). I'd assume that Vista would incorporate drivers for this device.

Thx guys. Also, I just noticed that the camera stored some pics on internal memory. I could only see it when I had the card out. How do I transfer those to the PC? I connected the camera using the USB cable and I couldn't see the internal memory.

Bajie, didnt you get a manual with your camera? Fuji puts out very good easily understood manuals with all their models.

Not sure. Whats a manual?

Well since you asked. A manual is not a Mexican gardener, but a handy item for people who arent lazy.

I'm using Picasa for now. The Vista built-in importer seemed like something they left unfinished.

O, i see. I think I might qualify as one of those people. Tell your mom to stop spoiling me in bed. She wore me out way too much.

Im not a PC user but first time I plugged my Fuji camera in to one I had no problem uploading the pics. This is a basic operation which should be covered in the manual. But I see besides being lazy or perhaps dyslexic you are a smart ass as well. And Im sure my mother has better taste than the likes of you. Absolutely incredible remark to make when I just point out to read the manual instead of getting other people who have read it to save you the time.

Please people. There is no need to use such language. DCPR is different to many forums on the internet as members don't use such language and please help keep it that way.
May I suggest we edit some offending comments?

I don't think F30 manual mentions anything about Windows Vista and as I said before it's a different beast to previous Windows versions before it; and I was told Windows Vista doesn't even recognise many popular printers that have been released for years.

How about Bynx stfu when you don't know wtf you're talking about. Obviously I mentioned the built-in functions but I was curious what other people were using. Learn to read. Too bad for you there isn't a manual on common sense.

On the contrary, Vista has much better transfer wizard than the XP. It supports PTP natively so you don't even need Fuji software for transfer (except perhaps the raw converter).

It shows the camera in My Computer when plugged in, and you can see DCIM folder on the card unlike in XP. Auto copying/moving/tagging actually works. At least it did for me when I tested it.

I am using Apacer AE161 16-in-1 internal 3.5" USB 2.0 card reader but it supports only up to 1GB xD cards so watch the specs when you are chosing one.

I have 1GB type H so it is fine with me and if I get more space it will be another 1GB card, not a bigger one.

All USB readers should work in Vista, no drivers needed just like in XP.

Cool thanks.
Vista supports PTP but the transfer wizard can't let you select pics and the naming scheme is pretty limited. PTP support is nice, as I can use other programs like Picasa.
1GB is enough for me also; tho xD support is so quirky. Glad it's going away.
