Macro lens query?

I have a canon 100mm ef2.8 macro lens and was wondering if i got an canon 250d close up filter would it increase its magnification or would they not work together? Does anyone have any ideas on this?

A close-up filter on that lens will increase the magnification, but I'm pretty sure it will also reduce the working distance.

Also, that lens is so sharp, it seems a shame to put that filter on it!

How much more magnification would you need? I mean you've got X megapixels over an object 18 mm tall?
