 Newbie here...does any one know why my photos have little gray spots on them? Same place on all my photos.

Dust on your sensor is the most likely cause.

Can you show what you mean?

Can i attach a photo to this thread? If so how...I can then show a picture of what I mean.
If it is the sensor, how do I get that cleaned? I have a Canon EOS Rebel XT and a little Sony DSC-P200. Both have these little spots. You can't see them when you take the photo, only on the picture itself.

larson, take a few frames of the sky to see if the spots are in the same place
then come back and tell us what happened in that experience

sky pictures are where you see the dots the most.
both camera's have them.
yes, same spot, too.

You have to crop the photo, and show a part that illustrates the "grey spots". Then you can attach it with the "insert image" icon, looks like a yellow post card with mountains.

Actually, that won't work, as you can see.
Use the "Manage Attachements" button at the bottom of the reply page to attach an image. The [IMG] tag only works if the image is already on the web someplace else.

You ahve to have the photo already uploaded on internet somewhere to use that way.
If you don't have it uploaded, use the manage attachment button you find under where you type your post (scroll down when typing a post).

Ok, thanks for the info on getting my picture up. :)
Here you can see the gray dots...everywhere.
And they are on every single picture. Same place.

Yes, those are definitely specs of dust on the sensor. They are normal on a DSLR, over time dust will enter the mirror box, and some more sticky dust will attach to the sensor.
You can easily clean it yourself, there are a lot of cleaning methods for this. You can blow with a special blower, you can clean it with specialized wet cleaning methods, and there are special swabs that remove most dust particles. The DSLR has a cleaning mode in the menu, where it opens access to the sensor for you.
The Sont P200 is a different story. Most compact digital cameras do not get dust on the sensor (they are not supposed to), but the P200 at times seems to have that problem. You can not access the sensor, and I do not know Sony's policy on it. They SHOULD clean it for you for free, as it is a P200 problem, but you know how mig electronics corporations are.

Those are definitely dust spots on your sensor. You won't see them when using larger apertures (like F11 or larger), but they are there...
You can either clean them up in PP, or you can clean your sensor....

Thanks for the info. :) I'll see what I can do.
I have in the past been using photoshop to touch of the dots, but this batch was un real with the amount of spots. I thought I better check into that because it was becoming more time consuming to do the touchups.
Thanks again. :)
