Why is Protective Anti-Glare Coating Peeling Off ?

I have a Canon SD 600 with a 2.5 LCD. It was coated with a purplish anti-glare coating. Suddenly, after 6 months of use and careful handling, the coating is coming off very slowly. This is very noticeable and unattractive. Why is this happening? I never rub the surface.

The SD series up through the 600 just tend to do that. My SD550's coating is all but completely rubbed off. I can still see the screen just fine, but you're right, it is very ugly. You could buy some plastic screen protectors if you really want to save it from getting any worse.
