Hello there,
I desperately need some help, and hopefully this can be resolved soon... my camera (DMC-LZ3) has a video out cable, but is it possible that it can be used as a webcam with yahoo messenger? It would be awesome if someone could help! Thanks all :D

While I have never done that , I am pretty sure if your computer has Video in you could do as you wish.....if you do not have video, in a device such as this will give you that ability.

IMHO ...If you need to purchase a video in adapter , its really easier to buy a webcam. They come with the necessary parts

A Google search for a similar model led to an official Panasonic product description that included:
Webcam feature = No.
You might try a similar search to see if someone has invented a way to do this.
If you find something, please report back here!

If you just hook the cable to the video in card.....you should be able to see whatever is on the LCD of the camera...... And then the card should have come with software that will allow you to view or capture that video.....I could do that with the Dazzle adapter......I saved to the disk to burn CDs (but did not burn any, because of poor quality)....but I am sure the software should permit live streaming ,but as I said I never used it as a Web cam.
Nor have I ever used a web cam.....so I am no help now.
I got the Dazzle dcs 200, to convert VHS to DVD and I experimented with the FZ10 and the video out......but thats where I quit. The quality of the photo was not good, maybe thats why Panasonic says ,No.
And perhaps I am assuming too much.
Sorry not much help

In other words, it's set up for viewing the photos or movies you may have stored on your SD card, but I don't believe it also supports passing the video signal out while you're shooting.

The more I think of it thats exactly what it is......its the same quality as if you hook to a tv or a DVD player and use that screen as a remote LCD..... (not in replay mode but just whats live on the LCD)
the quality may be good enough for the small pictures some use with a web cam but not for larger sizes.
I wanted to try it but I can not find the CD that came with the Dazzle adapter. I am sure its here somewhere ...I may find the CD.

Can you explain what dazzle is? haha ive never heard of it, but if its software youve got to buy, im out of luck...im truly sorry for my incompotence, but can you explain the first part a bit more...like how would you get it to show whats live on the LCD? thanks a ton :)

I am sorry, the Dazzle thing is an older version of what I linked to in my first post.....it is a piece of Hardware that can be used, if your computer did not have Video in (which mine did not) and it comes with software that permits the viewing ,capture and I think streaming.....but if you have "video in" then either the card in the computer or the Motherboard should have come with a similar piece of software.
And As I said I never owned a web cam but my guess is it came with similar software, but thats a guess.
There may be some freeware floating around....I just never had any interest once I digitized my old VHS tapes.
I am sorry for being vague but I did that a few years back and I have very little that I remember, other than it could be done....
