Just wondering if anyone has ever tested the SD300 when in B&W mode to see if it can detect infrared light. I saw some amazing photos using IR (from another camera, not the SD300) and was hoping to buy a IR floodlight and use it to take some cool pics with my SD300... but I am not even sure the camera will be able to detect IR wavelengths.

Thanks!

if you already have an SD300, get a TV remote and point it at the camera lens (camera on of course). if a light appears on your LCD screen then it is sensitive enough to IR that it can be used to take IR pics. based on your post in seems you MAY (or may not) have a misunderstanding of IR photography. while an IR floodlight is nice to have, it is not neccessary for IR photography, nor is shooting in B&W mode. what you do need is an IR filter to block out all other wavelengths of light except IR/near IR. the HOYA R72 filter gives you the best chance of success.
