Just got my new Canon A570 and it takes great pictures but the LCD screen is pretty much unusable outside with the sun shining even tho I am standing in the shade.
This forces me to use the optical finder which I prefer anyway but would like to know if perhaps my LCD screen is defective before I run out of return/warrenty options.
Indoors it is ok but not nearly as bright/clear as my Treo 650 screen which may have spoiled me.
It also is inferior to the screen on my very old Olympus D400.

Thanks for any advice,
Brian

Not sure, but I thought the 570 was modeled after the 710, probably using the same LCD. My 710 screen also gets washed out in the sun too. Sounds normal for a Canon in this price range.

Thanks for the reply. Glad to hear that it is not broken. I did discover one thing though, I had not removed the plastic film covering the LCD and this made it a bit better but not great. I really am spoiled by the screen on my TREO650.

My wife wants a new camera too so I visited a local camera store and compared the Canon 540, they didn't have a 570 in stock, with the Casio that she wants and the casio does have a better LCD screen. I now have one on order in the color, bright red, that she wants. I hope she isn't disappointed. It's about the smallest camera I've seen.

Her birthday isn't till October but I'm trying to keep the economy going.:D
