i recently bought and returned the Canon Powershot SD850 IS. i am a little disappointed in the design flaw that i noticed. anyways, the flaw is that the barrel of the lens sticks out so far enough, to where the the flash won't work correctly if your taking a picture up close of a subject with a background. what happens is a shadow will show up everytime at the bottom right hand corner because the barrel of the lens blocks the flash. if you don't use the flash, it's fine. if your not taking up close photos, you won't notice it. here are the samples of what i'm talking about...

i returned it once and got the same camera thinking it might be just the particular camera i bought, but the 2nd camera did the same thing. so i returned it and got the black Sony Cybershot DSC-T100. i hope whoever does the review for the SD850 for dc resource brings up this shadow issue.

You'll see this on lots of digital cameras.....

As seo said, this isn't uncommon. I don't find it to be a major trade off when dealing with small camera design.

Seo, David, although i agree with you that this might not be uncommon, my last 2 canon powershot cameras: SD500 and SD700, never had this problem. i was looking foward to enjoying the SD850. i feel like if i spent alot of money on this camera, i figured something like the barrel lens and the flash would work well together. i guess it's up to the user to decide if it's worth keeping. for me, it's not.
