Canon G8 available soon?

I am very curious.
I am trying to look for a Canon G7 here in Tokyo and I couldnt find it displayed anymore in the shops since about a week ago. I asked the shops why, and they said all stocks were sold out and Canon do not produce them anymore.

Why did Canon stop the production of the G7? Perhaps because it received a lot of comments being a downgrade from the G6? Could they be in the process on creating the G8??? :eek:

Unless something changes, I would imagine that the Gx line is a dead end. I'm not sure what the purpose of that line is with the prices of entry level dSLRs dropping.
