Hi,

My 1 month old SD1000 was dropped from a 2 feet height, and the lens cover popped out along with the black covers that shift into place when camera is closed.

The lens cover won't fit in place cause is it dented so it won't allow camera to close. Also there must have been a spring inside that moved the black covers into place that also fell.

Camera still works perfect. I tried all modes. No problems. The lens is not scratched at all.

What would be the estimate to fix this? What are my options?

Ask Canon , not us :-)

As someone who doesn't work for Canon, and has no affiliation with them, I can speak for everyone else on the forum by saying "call the 1 800 number". Dropping the camera isn't covered by the warranty, and I'd guesstimate parts and labor (assuming there's nothing wrong with the lens itself or any of the elements) at around $80.

If you bought it from a brick and mortar retailer, they'll usually ship it back to canon for you, which would at least save you a few dollars.
