PowerShot S500 Digital ELPH HELP!!

My boss is having me try and fix his camera, the zoom is sticky, so I opened it up and cleaned around it a little bit. But, when I opened it, there was this little piece that wasn't attached to anything and just fell out when I opened it?? And of course, I didn't see where it came from... Anyone know what I'm talking about, and where this thing goes? It's a dark gry plastic piece and looks like it would go Somewhere... But I have no idea where.
Anybody have any ideas??

Pure guesswork, but could it be a button that isn't adhered on but held in place by the body, so it fell off when you opened the camera? A picture/description of the shape might help.

Yep. You have to kind of work it open after you get the screws out. And when I did, this piece was just layin in the back side...? As for how it looks, oh boy, umm, I don't think I could describe it very well. It's not any normal shape. But, there is a #3 indented on to it, so I thought there may be a 3 on the insides somewhere, and there is, two actually. But, this thing doesn't seem to connect or fit near them, or anywhere.??:confused:
