Hi guys, just a quick q.
Being a firm believer in manual with my s3, I ventured into the world of auto, av and tv last night.
Not liking the onboard flash of the s3, i was astounded to find the flash on these settings much more to my liking. Its quicker and works better for fill. How can I get this flash setting on manual mode?

Look in the user manual for changing flash intensity. I can't fine mine right now, but it's in the menus somewhere.

page 82 of the manual...
go into menu, then FLASH ADJUST (set it to manual), then you'll be able to adjust the level of the flash.

Well, in manual mode the way to change the flash setting is by hitting the function key while in shooting mode. Then you go down to the flash icon and you can adjust the intensity to one of three steps.
I always use manual mode as well, but I hardly ever use the flash. When you have the flash raised metering goes completely out the window. The camera doesn't always agree with the exposures I select, but the metering is still usually helpful. With flash if you want to get a properly exposed shot the camera will usually tell you it will be underexposed by more than 2 steps. You're going only by experience.
The problem with the flash intensity setting in manual mode is that you can only adjust it in three settings (low, medium, and high perhaps). That's where you start playing with aperture to expose the subject properly given those flash settings. The shutter speed has no effect on the flash-lit subject but it does give you control over ambient light being taken in. Oh I think I have my words wrong. Just ask more if I just gave you more confusion. :-)
I find that putting flash exposure on -1 works wonders, looks almost DSLR
I did it through P though..

Thank you guys, I hate the fact that you can only change the output by 3 steps, but ive found a couple of work arounds. Ill try the exosure -1 trick turn. Thanks again :D
