Okay so I wanted a digital camera...read the reviews of all of them at steves digicam, dcresource and another site that I don't remember the name.

The finalists are:
Sony CyberShot L1 (4MP, 3x Optical, no viewfinder, small lcd, cheap, cool video recording feature)
Canon PowerShot S500 (5MP, 3x Optical, viewfinder, not so small, midrange at the price, lame video recording feature)
Sony CyberShot T1 (5MP, 3x Optical, no viewfinder, small, kind of expensive at the price, cool video recording feature)
Canon SD300 (4MP, 3x Optical, viewfinder, not so small, midrange at the price, cool video recording feature)

The thing is...4MP is enough or 5MP really do make a difference? Because if it doesn't I would really buy the SD300...I just love Canon, and don't think Sony's are a match do Canon overall quality...

My opinion...

...Buy the Canon. Sony quality is not in question here, as Sony makes very good quality consumer cams. It's all of the other factors, as a package, that make the Canon a better choice.

not that Sony's quality aren't great, but in my personal opnion seeing the picture samples, my taste lean towards Canon.

anyway, my main question on this thread was: 4MP is quite enough or 5MP really do make a difference?

Sorry bout' that.

If you don't do heavy cropping or expect fine-art prints at 13 x 17 then 4MP should be more than sufficient.
