The S5 doesn't have the finger notch to open the LCD like the previous models do. So the LCD is hard to open. Seems like a big drawback for those who like the swivel LCD.

I had no problem with the LCD when I flipped it out from the bottom of the camera.

The very first time I opened it, I thought it was weird, but after using it for just a couple minutes it's not even remotely a concern.

yeah, from the bottom here too.. habit i started with the S3, because that damned ISO button is just too easy to hit!

I tried an S5 in the store again. Opening the LCD from the bottom was hard and felt like it would break eventually from the pressure upwards and rubbing against the EVF. I still think removing the side notch is a big flaw.

I haven't seen the S3 notch but there is a slight one on my S5.
I agree, not the easiest to open... will have to grow my nails!

Yes there is that slight notch in the LCD, but I'm talking about a bigger notch in the cam body to the right of the LCD. The S3/S2 had one, but not S5.

^But your screen is bigger. I'm guessing that's the trade off and why they decided to get rid of it.

I'm going to make a little cover for it. Well, maybe sort of a foam donut. I already have a little "warning pad" stuck next to it so at least I know when my thumb gets near it.
The engineer who thought of that one should be neutered.
