I thought I'd post a few from a shoot last weekend with my daughter and grandson. All shot with the 24-70 f2.8 @ ISO100, 1/125th @ f9. Lighting was with 2 White Lightning Ultra 600's with softboxes and a reflector.
Thoughts and C&C always welcome. Thanks for looking.

You caught some very nice expressions. They all look so natural in front of the camera! Some of them seem a little flat though. I'm not sure why though maybe not enough separation of subject to background? I'm nitpicking though I think they are great and they make me want to buy a lighting kit even more now!

Thanks Nick. My daughter is pretty much a natural, she hardly ever takes a bad pic and it looks like he is going to be the same way.
As far as the flatness - these are straight from the camera other than converting from RAW, resizing, and saving for web. I haven't done any other post on these at all. I'll add a little contrast and sharpening before I print.

Nice work Dennis! #5 is precious! My only C&C is a little too much headroom on #3 for my tastes. But they're very nice overall. :)

How could you go wrong with a cutie like that. Sorry, I'm talking about your grandson! LOL. Great shots, all of them look so happy and like said aboe, natural.

Sometimes I think you just like to hear yourself talk ;)

Thanks Pete, glad you liked #5 as it's one of my favorites. I agree that #3 probably could be cropped a little closer on top. Thanks again for taking the time to comment.

Thanks for the compliment. Yeah, my daughter is a natural and is quite used to being in front of a camera. She also did a bit of acting and danced from the age of 4. She even does pretty good behind the camera as she took #5 of Nicholas & me. I prefer being behind the camera  tho!

and so you should. no i'm just kidding. you're prettier than i expected D. and i love the hippy do you got going. you're one of those cool old dudes.
as much as i hate to say it, i like the picture of you and the baby the most. you just look giddy and i think it comes across as genuine and that's not easy for most people to do. and you guys have matching smiles from your eyes to your smile....minus the teeth of course.
the lighting looks great also.

Oh come Dennis, you are a dish!:) So no, you shouldn't stay behind the camera. And I really love that last one of yours, such tangible happiness!! Both you and Nicholas have so much love in your smiles. And you are absolutely charming:) Easy to see it runs in the family.
Take care Grampa

Thanks for the compliment, but I don't know which makes me the more nervous - that I'm prettier than you expected  or that you had even thought about it :eek: I haven't heard the "hippy" word in a long time and I do appreciate the cool old dude remark. It brought a big smile to my face. Thank God that of all the things I've lost, my sense of humor has remained.

Awwww, thank you again :D We were all laughing and cutting up when my daughter snapped that one. Of the whole shoot, that's my favorite too.
the lighting looks great also.
Thanks. I really appreciate your comments.

Bella - you might wanna think about having the big brown eyes tested :p I think they're starting to fail. :D
Thanks again.
