hey guys
i bought my A710is about 5 month ago used it for 2 months then put it in the box for 3 months i wasn't free to do anything but studying so the camera was idle :)
i took it out yesterday the camera started without saying ay errors at all
but when i push any button at all (menu , Disp , func set, even the zoom in/out wheel ) nothing happens
like i didn't push the buttons at all
the camera still takes pictures when i press the shooting button
the only operational stuff in the Cam is the shooting button and the program wheel
and it doesn't display any kind of errors what so ever

is this a known problem ??
help please

Try a full reset by removing the date battery for 5 minutes (page 116-117 of the Advanced guide.) When you reinstall it the first thing the camera will ask for is the date and time, just like it did the first time you used it. If it doesn't then leave the battery out longer.

I suspect the problem is dead batteries. Put in a freshly charged set of batteries (or a fresh set of Alkalines if that is all you have) and try again. If you don't already have them, pick up a set of NiMH rechargeables for your camera.

The A710 IS will give a "Change the batteries" message and stop operating when the batteries are low. moamen stated that the camera is still taking pictures. I guess it could somehow be possible that the problem is low batteries, but I doubt it.

The camera works with AA batteries
so the first thing i did was getting a fresh set of batteries
even before this happened
and i took out the date battery for about 10 minutes
when i open it i got the screen to adjust time and date
but i couldn't
since all the main the buttons still don't work

Sounds like it's time to return it to Canon for service.
