Sub $250 point-and-shoot camera

I need to get a camera ASAP to go on holiday. I'm looking at spending no more than about $250. Preferably the camera would be small, have a decent size LCD, have a decent battery life and take decent pictures. Extra plus points would be image stabilisation, a zoom above 3x and an ISO above 200 that isn't a spotty mess.

If anyone has any suggestions that would be superb - something by a real brand rather than a rebadged generic would be good, and being small really would be good - the smaller the better really.

The Canon A640 sounds like it would be a good fit. This link has a review of the a640 and it's 'little' brother the a630:
