I need a digital camera recommendation--- I am having an impossible time deciding. My current camera, which is now broken, was a 2 MP Olympus, which really served me well for about 5 years.

I used to have a dark room and develop my own film-- now I'm a mom who is just looking for a some quality photos of my kid, and a camera that is:
easy to use
small
can take good close up shots
can take a beating in my diaper bag
is easy to download pics to my computer and post on my website
decent battery life
user friendly photo editing software
Under/around $300

Does this sound like any camera you know? The guy at Circuit City almost sold me on the Kodak Easyshare, but I feel like a photog sell out! I need a second opinion....
Thanks in advance!!!!!!!!

You might want to consider the A75 or A85 from Canon. In the "for a few dollars more" catagory the Panasonic FZ3 is fun for kids-at-play (and grown-ups too) shots with a very long zoom.

Those would be my prime recomendations.

Don't look down on the Kodak line. The DX 7440 is pretty nice, is fairly compact, and is excellent where red-eye is concerned. This is great if you take a lot of indoor pix of kids. The Easy Share line is pretty easy to use, but you still get some manual controls so the true "photographer" in you can express yourself.

A good choice that we (I) always seem to overlook, mainly because there is minimum manual control (only white balance and EV). But I guess you want a point-n-shoot anyway, so it should work fine. From what I've heard the internal red-eye reduction actually works.

Have fun. :)
