Summer in New England.....

I was hiking in horribly harsh mid-day sunlight....sometimes you have to make due with the lighting you've got. I hope to have some better ones to post over the next few months.

60mm macro, f/8, CP, 2 stop ND grad, hand held.....

My wife and I recently purchased a couple of kayaks....Now I need a "wildlife lens". :D
Here's a shot from last night....

50mm f/1.8, f/4 - I still love the images that I get from this lens....for such a cheap lens, its amazing how much "pop" it has....shot RAW and converted to jpeg in DPP, no sharpening or other PP....

something doesn't seem right about the first...maybe it's too hazy where the grad was used?

i love the second one. very nice shot.

The first one looks HDR'd to me. I think it looks pretty nice personally.

Is that the Connecticut river from somewhere near South Deerfield off of Rt. 116? I don't recall many high vantage points out there to get a shot like that. Sugarloaf maybe?

Check your PM box.

You got it Mark - its Mt. Sugarloaf in Deerfield, very close to the flagship Yankee Candle store. I really want to get a nice sunrise/sunset shot of this site when I can find the time!

Your right Adam, although the primary problem with this shot is harsh mid-day sunlight. There was a little haze, but very little for a warm summer day. I really need to do this shot around sunset/sunrise.

Thanks for the comments Adam.

HDR! Blasmphemy!! All of this was done in camera. The only PP was RAW conversion to jpeg and slight bump in saturation.

No, seriously, I rarely use HDR. I prefer to use graduated filters whenever I can; its just the way I like to do things. I get more satisfaction in getting the shot right in camera.

Maybe the CP & ND grad weren't playing nice together? I try to avoid stacking filters though I don't do much landscape stuff. The kayak shot is very nice Michael.
