DMW - FL 500 flash CLP on/off

HI all
Just been looking at the settings on myDMW-FL500 flashgun and I see it has a setting for CLP On or Off.

Anyone know what it does?

Cant seem to see a difference in how the flash operates.
BTW it is being used on a DMC FZ50

CLP on/off is for when the flash is used with a flash cable
when using a flash cable (off camera flash) its CLP ON
