What are some of the first DSLRS? i know theres a D20 but what elese is there? Thanks!

There's no D20 (perhaps you're thinking of the D200), but here (http://www.nikonians.org/html/resources/nikon_articles/body/chart/nikon_dslr_chart.html) is a list of all of them to date.

there are no oldermodels? the oldest and cheapest. is the D40?

DSLRs are not that old... The D40 is the cheapest Nikon DSLR made today. The D50 could be had for around the same price, and I prefer it over the D40. The D70s can probably be found for a bit more than the D50, and would be a good choice as well. But I wouldn't go older than these two.
