Hi,

I just got an A85. I got the NiMH batteries, but now I need a larger CompactFlash card for it. Does the memory card speed make a difference in the shooting speed of the camera?

I have been looking through the instruction book and I can't find anything about the write speed of the camera. I would like to get a good card, but I don't want to spend extra money for extra speed I don't need.

I don't really care about how fast the card transfers with the computer, I just watn to maximize the performance of the camera.

Also - does the brand of the card matter? I been looking through the ads and some like PNY and Kingston seem to be cheaper compared to Sandisk or Lexar. Is one best?

Any advice? Thanks in advance

A85 cannot make use of fast CF cards so dont waste your money buying one, buy the biggest you can afford at the best price you can find it.

I bought the Lexar 80X 1GB card and USB 2.0 reader because I don't want it to take forever to read as USB 1.1 from the camera.
There was a $20 mail-in-rebate for the Lexar 80X when I bought it 2 weeks ago.
I transfered 465 5-MP pictures (980MB) in about 4 minutes using the Lexar 80X and UBS 2.0 reader.
I haven't tried doing it with the built in USB 1.1 in the A95, but I know it would take alot longer.

Even so it wont make your camera any faster.
