Time and date reset to default each time battery door is opened. Call to Pentax resulted in suggestion that the camera be returned for warranty service.
Charged batteries are normally left in unit and both DL manual and Pentax rep says that the internal cell that retains time/date settings should be charged after 12 to 48 hours. Battery changes after that time should not cause these items to reset. Problem may be as simple as memory cell not charging or it could indicate the start of integrated circuit problems.
Two questions. Are there other symptoms which other DL users have experienced?
Second, Have K100 owners noticed this reset on that model?
I like my Pentax DL enough to order the K100 for its features and ask these questions out of curiosity. Camera return will fix the DL reset problem and Pentax rep says the warranty will be extended another year. That offsets the cost of its return and is positive customer service.
Look forward to carrying DL for use with wide angle lens and anti-shake K100 for use with 150 to 450 zoom (100-300mm before 1.5 factor).
