Well i recently picked up the rebel xti and its been nothing but complements from the pictures iv been taking with the 18-55mm lens it came with but i need something more. Iv been looking at two older lenses the Canon EF 70-210mm f/4 MACRO Zoom Lens and Canon EF 35-135mm f/4-5.6 USM ZOOM. I reallly cant decide. I would like to be able to zoom into objects sence im going to be going over to england but i would also be able to shoot images that are closer up at the same time. Basicly i need a good all around lens for travel. I need segestions. I only have about 250$$ so tight budget. Im more than likly going to buy from ebay unless i can find a good deal from somebody on a forum.

If you want to use the lens in combination with your 18-55 kit lens, then the 70-210 would make sense. If you are talking about the 70-210 only, it makes a whole lot less sense...
The 70-210 f4 is not an overly great lens though. It has push-pull zoom, which may take some getting used to, it has a very slow AF. Optics are moderately good for such an old "consumer" lens.
Around $100 would be a reasonable price. Another consumer zoom lens you could consider is the Sigma 70-300 f4-5.6 APO DG macro. It offers a bit better optics in the short end, and still acceptable performance at 300mm, and it costs around $220.
The 35-135mm would be a better "walk around" lens than the 70-210, but it does nt go wide enough on an XTi for that though. A sigma 18-125mm would be a more useful travel lens, in this case.

What do you mean the 35-135 doesnt go wide enof?
Basicly im looking for a good all around lens thats pritty cheap. I understand that im going to have to sacrifice picture quality, ect. but i really need this lens for vacation.

When on vacation you tend to want to make photos of views, buildings, and city scapes that need a wide view. Set your 18-55mm lens to 35mm. You will notice that that is not very wide at all. That is what I mean with not wide enough, for a single vacation lens.

this is what he means by it won't be wide enough. remember you have to multiply your focal length by 1.6 to give you your 35mm equivalent. so your 35-135 is really a 56-216mm, so keep that in mind when you go through the focal length comparison.
at 56mm your angle of view with be less than 45 degrees. giving a bad angle of view if you plan to shoot architecture or wide landscapes.

I want to sell my Sigma 70-300mm lens if you are interested. I don't really use it much. It is a couple of years old, but it in excellent condition.

I think a good walk around cheaper lens is the canon 28-105. Maybe not quite wide enough, but overall a very good lens for the price.
