Good morning everyone!

I picked up a slightly used Rebel XT yesterday as my FIRST (starter!) dSLR!

The individual that sold this camera is including a Sigma 28-70mm F2.8-4 DG and a 70-300mm F4-5.6 DG. Anyone have any experience with these lenses? I have found them selling on EBay for around $200 for the set, so I am not expecting a whole lot.

I will typically use this camera in a non professional role, mainly as low light alternative to my S3 (unless I fall in love with it and my S3 might get demoted to my secondary camera!). I will be taking shots of my little girl and the occasional landscape, etc.

If these lenses are junk, any recommendations?

Thanks!
Lee

Don't know anything about the 28-70 but the 70-300 has at least 3 versions, of which the "APO" version is the good one and sells for about $219 new. It is adequate, and certainly reasonably priced, but I find I must bump the contrast way up, at least at the long end.

Thanks for the reply SpecialK.

I spoke with a friend this AM who is a professional and he told me the same thing you did. I don't have the camera yet so I don't which version of the lens these happen to be.
