It was probably just by accident. He must have noticed the cops and decided to make a break for it, accidentally depressing his shutter button as he grabbed the camera and ran. Well, that's what I think. :D

You really like the grip? I just can't seem to get along with mine. I only use it when I know for sure that I'll need the extra juice.

But portrait panning now is awesome plus the thing just feels better to hold

Haven't taken mine off since I got it.

I would also say that now approx 80% of my shots would be in Portrait Mode....this is where the grip comes into it's own.
