Has anyone had problems loading this suite of programs?

The Canon G6 bundled software 'Canon Digital Solutions Disk v20' does not
appear to be installing correctly - very frustrating. I have read that some
1st issue disks supplied with the G6 have installation problems, could the
one supplied with my camera be one of them?
Problems installing (with WinXP service pack 2. with oodles of space on my
HDrives and all other computer requirements exceeded).

1. Auto-Start would stall at select language prompt - had to wait ages for
the disk to spin down.
2. When English finally accepted - error message at next screen said
'Incorrect language selected for your computer - continuing installation
using English'
3. At program choice install to drive/folder I accepted the default
C:\Program Files\Canon..... and the installation stalled and I had to
restart my computer.
4. Tried to re-install & program said 'installation of this program is not
required as it is already installed on your computer'. And the installation
cancelled itself.
5. Tried all sorts to get rid of the part filled folders and even when they
were no longer visible the installation program kept repeating the step 4
message.
6. By this time I was getting really annoyed and after several more tries I
finally resorted to a system restore to an earlier date with WinXP.
7. I finally got it to install to my second hard drive but using the custom
install but selecting all the options available except QuickTime.
8. My main worry is now I have ended up with a program that won't un-install
cleanly and re-install a few months/years down the line on my computer so I
am not a very happy bunny at the moment.

When I installed my G6 software I noticed the setup program actually runs about 11 individual setups back-to-back (for each of the various components, Core Library, ZoomBrowser, etc.)

This means if you want to completely remove or re-install the software you'll probably need to remove each of the separate Canon installs (see your add/remove programs in Windows).

Thanks Mark C

That was part of my problem the WinXP add/remove program tool did not list any components of the Canon software as a program that it could remove. I think that this was due to the program stalling part way during the installation process. This in turn left some new Canon folders but with only a few items in each - just enough to currupt the registry I guess & to stop re-installation, but not enough for the WinXP add/remove program tool to identify.

Hence my problem
