Ok, so I'm going to buy a tele converter. Obviously it will be between the Sony 1.7 and the Canon 1.5. I like the extra 2.6 total zoom you get with the Sony (18 vs 20.6), but I can't help but feel the Canon would be better just because it was designed for the camera. Also the Sony seems to have that extra lip at the lens end, it seems that it would make vignetting more likely? I'm sure either one would work great. Any sample pictures form either one?

Can't help on the lens you have in mind, but I have the Olympus B-300 1.7x lens. At full zoom no vignetting. I wouldn't leave home without it. Either one would probably be O.K.

This is from another post of mine but it applies here too.

There's about 4 decent tele lens to choose from the Canon TC-DC58B 1.5x 58mm, Olympus TCON17 1.7x 55mm, Raynox DCR-1540Pro 1.54x 52mm, and a Sony VCL-DH1758 - 1.7X . My original choice was the Raynox until I viewed some real world results and I settled on the Canon because for me it offered better IQ for what I like to shoot.

Well as you can see I chose the Canon... here's a good thread to checkout.

Thanks XaiLo, I knew this question has risen before, and was searching for that thread. It should help me make up my mind. I'm leaning toward he Canon because It was made for the camera, but like that little extra zoom with the Sony..
