I'm looking at this zoom lens for my 20D/30D. After good experiences with my 10-20 EX DG sigma I'm hoping this one will be good too, anyone have one? Do you like it? Only thing drives me bonkers about the sigma lenses is they reverse the focus and focal length rings from the canon lenses.

Hmm, no Sigma does not.... Canon places the zoom ring near the camera, and the focus ring near the end of the lens.
Same as Sigma.... even your 10-20mm Sigma has the zoom ring near the camera body and the focus ring at the end of the lens, and the same with my 18-50 and 70-300. So, I am not sure how many Sigma lenses have the zoom and focus ring reversed, but there are not many? The 80-400 has it reversed, the 100-300mm f4 does not.
Canon and Sigma even rotate the rings the same way around....
I know that the Tamron 17-50 f2.8 turns the zoom the other way around than Nikon and Sigma, for instance.
Only Nikon does it (zoom and focus ring placement) the other way around at times, I think.
About the Sigma 135-400mm, I nearly bought one when I was going on vacations because I could not find a Canon EF 70-200 f4 L USM for a sensible price in my country at the time. I decided against it because of the size, end ended up ordering a better priced 70-200 f4 L from Germany.
The 135-400mm is a good lens for the money, it still performs quite ok at 400mm. It is the most affordale 400mm zoom for respectable quality.
The Tokina 80-400 is a bit less bulky, but also is a bit less optically, especially at 400mm where you really do need to stop down to f8 or f11.
So... if your budget is restricted, the Sigma 135-400mm is a good purchase. If you can spend a bit more, the Sigma 80-400mm OS, which offers image stabilization and performs still a bit better at the long end.
