Hello guys,

I need help in finding the right ultra compact camera or camcorder for me.
I explain.
I have a sony dsc-l1 , and I really love the video quality of that camera.
I love the fact that the camera is very small.

Right now I am trying to find another ultracompact camera that has maybe a better video quality feature.
I do NOT care about the picture quality , I just care about the video quality and that the camera/camcorder should be very small.

I would like that maybe the new camera has these features :

1) wider angle lens in movie mode, in comparison with my dsc-l1

2) a camera with less problem in focusing then my dsc-l1. What I mean is that I use my dsc-l1 to take sports movies of fast things moving. Sometimes happen that my dsc-l1 lose focus , when maybe I want switch my attention to 1 object to another object that is passing by the first object . In that case the camera takes too long to refocus on the secon object.

3) Maybe better quality video in low light.

4) ultracompact

Thank u very much guys.
I know that maybe it is impossible to find a camera/camcorder with all these features alltogether , but I would be glad also if the new camera has just some features that I said before.

The most important things are the

video quality-better focus / ultracompact /

than secondly

wider angle / low light
thank u very much

If those are your criteria, I don't think you'll be very happy with any of the current crop of ultra-compacts. You can look at the Canon SD800, which goes to 28mm on the wide end. But I don't think any of these cameras will really handle fast changing focus very well, or low light.

Since you don't care about photo quality, this seems like it would be a perfect application for one of the ultra small video cameras. Any reason that you don't want one of those?

Hi and thank u for the reply.

No , I do not have anything against an ultra small video cameras. It is just that I do not know any brand/type/model that have the characteristics that I told u and also , when we talk about ultra small , are these camcorders much bigger then an ultracompact camera ??

Also coming back to the ultra compact cameras , can u suggest one camera that can come a little close to the characteristics that I told u ??

thank u very much for you time.

The Canon SD800 was my suggestion. It's ultra compact, has a wide angle lens, Image Stabilization, and an excellent video mode.

If video is your prime concern, there are dedicated video cameras of roughly the same size that will do a MUCH better job.

You never mentioned price as a criteria. :) I'm sure there are cheaper models then the ones I found via a quick search.
