I'm a complete newbie to dc!! I'm looking for an inexpensive entry level camera and to this point my research has brought me to the Kodak 7330 and the Olympus 535Z (a new model). Any advice, comparisons, suggestions are welcome!!

Hard one to call. The specs for LCD size, on-board memory, battery type, zoom strength, and lens speed, are almost the same. I did notice one difference in one web site's specs, and that is the Oly has a much closer macro capability. That, and the fact that Oly is generally regarded as having very good images overall would point me towards the 535.
If however macro isn't a big thing for you, then it's pretty much a tossup and I would just get the cheapest one, so that you will have some money left over for rechargeable batteries and a memory card. If by chance one included a set of rechargeables and the other didn't, then that would be the dealmaker/breaker for me. Check the prices of memory cards too. Since I've not shopped for the xD card, I don't know if they cost more or less that an SD.
Don't sweat the decision too much. I think you are smart to start out with a good but low-priced camera, and either will fit the bill just fine.

Thanks. xD cards are more expensive and I just found a great price on an SD card, so I'll probably go with the Kodak. The reviews I've seen are generally very positive. Unfortunately, no reviews on the 535Z because it's new.

I'm also looking to buy a camera. I went to Best Buy to try a few out. While there I talked with the Geek Squad about which cameras to buy or not buy. Both guys there said don't buy a Kodak because they break much more than any other brand. I don't have any personal experience but this is what they told me.

^^ Dont agree with the geek squad
Well before my current camera (Panasonic FZ20) I upgradeed through 3 kodaks and they all still work even my first Kodak a 1MP DC3200, we sell a lot of Kodaks at my work and they don't have a higher return rate than anything else to my knowledge.
