Student sculptures were installed in the courtyard last week. This morning, this one was sporting a lovely blonde wig. Two different focal lengths--which do you prefer?

haha i love the greyish roots in the wig..priceles...as for which one i like better?
hmmmm
they are actually both quite different....
i guess i would say the first verticle one..only because i am partial to verticle shots but if the horizontal one was maybe cropped different with the scupture more on the right i think i would like that better

First photo hands down because of the less distracting background. However, it's more centered and the wider one allows better framing (less on center).

If it were me, I'd use the 1st FL and crop out some of the hair to create more of a 3rds look.

Yeah, wig roots lol!

It's just a white space thing. Usually, there be more of it to the side the subject is facing. So; the choices are step back a bit or crop. Also I untilted it a bit.

I find that framing should accentuate the body form... for a tall thin lurp, portrait framing works best, whereas for a short fat shin kicker... you wanna go with landscape...oh... and use that 10mm wide angle too haha... jk jk. Seriously though, the human body is longer than it is wide, so I find that portrait works welll if your main subject is the person/body. If you feel that the background offers some design quality to your image, landscape works great!
