I see a lot of talk about pictures and Photoshop (which I love), but what about video?

What if I want to post-process my video files, what should I use? I want noise reduction for sure, and I am sure anything that applies to photos should also apply to video as its simply 30 frames of 640x480 shots per second.

Thanks for any help.

Well it seems Neat Video works rather well as a plug-in to Adobe Premiere Pro.

Problem is, this program is unstable and crashes often. Also I'm not sure if I am doing something wrong, but to encode the finished product it takes 30 minutes for a 2 minute 640x480 30fps clip which is insane. My system isn't a slouch either...my main hobby (one of many) is fast computer hardware.

I am using the latest ffdshow to do the job, maybe I will try something else.

I need more time with the program also...I can't seem to figure out why Premiere is automatically cranking up the contrast on all the videos I import to start working on. It blacks out the darks and blows out the whites. At least I get some good noise reduction, which is rather high from this S3.

2 frames a second with noise reduction is not bad... try that with Photoshop!

The best photoshop equivalent is Apple's Final Cut Pro. But for that you will need a Mac...

One of the most ubiquitous video editing programs for the PC is Pinnacle. I haven't used v. 11 so I can't speak for the quality or workflow of their new offering...

For a more professional package, there's Adobe Premiere Pro...

Sony's Vegas is awesome, but it takes some getting used to. I used to use Pinnacle, I don't think there's enough customization options in it. You have to pay for a lot of the features as add-ons, which you can get included with other software.

Then there's Adobe Premiere, but I like Vegas over it. There are tons. You just have to find which one suits you. And if you have a Mac, there's Final Cut Pro.

Here's a list:

...he doesn't talk about Vegas, but the readers do in their comments.

a fairly simple (and free) program is VirtualDub. It has a lot of filters (sharpness, blur (with über simplistic noise filter), motion blur, HSV, levels, rotate, ...).
For noise reduction you could also use the DivX codec, this has a noise filter built-in.
