What do you like the least about your Canon S80?

A little background...

I've been looking at new cameras, specifically to replace my aging Nikon Coolpix 4300. i love its compactness, great image quality, and manual controls.

The S80 seems to be the perfect upgrade - even smaller, higher resolution, bettter manual controls, and no lens cap!

But I can't find any in stores and don't like to buy cameras without having tried them. So, I'm trying to get actual user's feedback, and coupled with the good reviews online, maybe I can make an informed choice before venturing forth on Ebay for one of these.

Thanks for your help!

That was the camera I started out with when I really got into photography. great camera with a nice wide lens. the problem I have with it is that it gets smudged so easily due to its shiny plastic casing but other than that its good.

That's not even manufactured anymore is it?

Nope, I don't think so.

That's correct, it is not. That's what making finding one of these so difficult. I'm stuck with either buying a used one off ebay, or a refurb'ed one from one of these huge ebay resellers.

This camera is basically exactly what I want, but because of the used condition / buying hassle / and still high price, I'm considering other options - like the Sony W200.

My realy question here, though, in the Canon thread is to get people's first hand impressions of the camera - what you like, don't like, would you recommend it, etc. I've never actually held one of these in my hand.

Just out of curiousity, why are you so interested in it as opposed to something current?

There just doesn't seem to be anything current on the market like it:

- Full manual controls
- Large(-ish) lens
- Great image quality

All compressed into a pocketable camera with no protruding lense or lens cap.
