Hi guys,

i know there was a thread on here a while ago about taking pictures from a plane with the S3 and that most likely the outcome won't be very good. So I was wondering whether somebody has ever taken the S3 on a helicopter for some aerial shots in low altitude (let's say 600ft ~ 200m or so).

Also, I wonder what would be the best settings to use from 'up there' and if the TC will work.

Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

photoluluguy from Hawaii took some pics from a helicopter they're in the "Some S3 Pics" thread. hth

A TC should work as normal it's just an extension of the lens in this case. :)

Just set the shutter speed as high as you can get away with. Should be fine.

This pic was taken with my S3 from a helicopter ... I think it's pretty good :) :

I didn't even use any zoom. Aside from a little reflection (lower left) from the plexiglas bubble, it's pretty clear. The pic was taken from the front seat of a Robinson R44 helicopter.

I was using my CPL.
Tv=1/125
Av=4.0
ISO=100
White Balance set to "Sunny"

does anybody have a solution how to keep the reflection to a minimum when taking pictures through a plexiglas bubble like above?

Your polarizer is your best friend for reducing the reflection....

Nope, the hood stops the light from flaring/flashing on your your lens ... it can't help with reflections.

If I'd noticed the reflection in the EVF, I might have thought to give the CPL an adjustment.

As it was, I was pretty happy to be flying over my home town in a helicopter, and I wasn't really focusing on taking the "best" possible pictures ... I basically just let the camera do all the work (P mode). :D

The video I took was pretty cool, too, except for the LOUD engine noise ... I wish I'd have thought to turn down the microphone, too!!
