confused on error?

I have a Canon Pixma IP660D and I went to replace the black ink cartridge and the red light on the cartridge blinks and on the screen it gives me a error of, "The remaining level of the following ink cannot be correctly detected." If someone has any idea of what that means I would highly appreciate the help!! Thanks! :confused:

Don't take offense to this, but were all of the plastic parts and strips peeled off the cartridge?

None taken, and yes all of the plastics and the tab is also broken off. Not the first time I've replaced the cartridge! :D
