I am deciding between the A710 and the new A570. My reasons for leaning towards the A570 are it's lighter weight, improved battery life and longer movie lengths.
The only thing that I really like about A710, that's missing in the A570, is the FlexiZone focus-point system, where you can manually change the focus point to any point in view. The A570 lacks this feature but adds the new DIGIC III face-recognition feature, which I doubt I will be using much. So my question is, can one easily substitute FlexiZone focus ability with the simple manual focus distance setting (which is available on both models), by moving the camera center to better focus on the desired focus point and then resetting your frame, like it's done on SLRs?
Is anyone aware of any other sub-$400 cameras that offer both FlexiZone-type technology and image stabilizer?
