I got my S3 IS in September and in November had to send it in to Canon as it would not read the memory card (I tried several). From what I can tell on the repair sheet, they replace the whole memory card assembly. Well, this week I took my card out to upload a bunch of GREAT pictures taken on my vacation, and when I went to put it back in, the card wouldn't lock in. So back to Canon it goes and I get VERY nervous.

Anyone else have this problem? Could it possibly be something I'm doing? I'm super careful with my camera and it's never taken so much as a bump.

Also, how long are they going to fix it for me? What happens if my warranty runs out- do they extend it on something that's been fixed a couple of times in the first year? I don't want to get stuck buying another $ camera.

I got it from Costco last September (before they instituted the 90 day return policy). Should I exchange the whole camera?

Is that enough questions for you? TIA for your help! :o

In general, if you report a problem during the warranty period the company will continue to work on the problem until it is fixed, regardless of how long it takes.

I find it hard to believe you can do anything to damage the card mechanism unless you are trying to force it in the wrong way. This would get me nervous as well. I swap cards on my S3 all the time and have never had a problem.

Thanks for your reply.

Yeah, I don't think it could be me either. I'm very gentle putting it in, though I do always remove it to upload pictures with a card reader. But I would think that is the intention, right?

Anyway, I'm just hoping that this fix will do it. It's been a bummer to be without my camera for several weeks at a time when it's so new (and I have a cute kid to take pictures of!)
