I would try Noise Ninja (http://www.picturecode.com) or Neat Image (http://www.neatimage.com).

freeware ver. of neatimage is best ( if u are not investing specially ) freeware wil save images in abt. 85% quality
factor w.r.t org. image after processing.

noise ninja - freeware watermarks the image with grid ,
which cannot be removed during viewing later on.
also the noise removal is not as good in it.

this is my experience with both.
i use now neatimage for my FZ 50 images.

I've used both Neat Image and Noise Ninja. The latter does a better job, IMO, is smarter at sampling the image for noise, executes the noise reduction faster, and gives up less image detail. Worth a look, at http://www.picturecode.com.

I have the freeware NeatImage, and I like it. I never noticed a decrease in quality, although now I want to check  I have also used (free) Noiseware, and I liked it, too.

I'll agree with Noise Ninja. I am using it now for all of my pictures. The batch processing is priceless. I can run 200 (or more) pictures through it in the background while I do something else. And the settings are adjustable. It loads a profile for noise reduction based on my camera.

Noiseware also does a very good job but it doesn't have the painter that lets you paint back over areas of the image you want reverted back to normal in case you lost too much detail.

Noise Ninja lets you save at 100% which is basically no compression, and keeps all EXIF data too.

Those that talk negatively about NeatImage probably havent used the full manual mode(which offers far more features than standard). Also, they dont realize that the full version offers the option to save your file as a lossless JPEG or TIF! Oh and yeah, it also does batch processing. There is ZERO image quality lost with the full version of NeatImage.

If we are going to compare NeatImage with NoiseNinja, perhaps we should compare the FULL PAID version of NeatImage. The full version of NeatImage is better than NoiseNinja. I guess I should say "In my opinion"....

What are your settings for both software products? A guy showed me the Neat Image full version (as opposed to the trial). The image quality is quite well-preserved. It simply turns most camera images to a top-notch usable ISO-1600 camera.

I'm not sure about that. I can't comment on Neat Image but it is supposed to be almost impossible to tell the difference between it and Noise Ninja. Now any noise reduction program will sacrifice detail for smoothness and it will not look like a DSLR picture that never needed it in the first place. However the differences can be very minimal.

Agreed, unless you are printing posters, which everyone apparently is (when in fact they are looking at a 10mp picture at 100% - lol!

Anyway I have done some ISO100, 800, 1600 shots with the sony a100. After applying noise reduction, I concur the difference is minimal. You would not notice this for 4x6 prints. This is amazing. This software is very good and should be a part of everyone's basket of photo editing tools.

Anyone have a photoshop way of removing noise?

I've tried crazy things like a gausian blur to remove the noise and I am struggling.

The moment I try sharpening my image (after very soft scanning) the underlying noise in my image really makes it suck.

You can remove noise if you shoot raw in Adobe raw.

You can also try despeckle.

Noise Ninja is still considered the best with Noiseware just behind it...for the final image, most people would never tell the difference between the two. However the features of NN make it better.

Can Noiseware do profiling though?

Thanks all.

Despeckle in photoshop didn't do a whole lot but noise ninja helped.
