Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)

hi!

message above in nagging me for last month and i tried all sorts of things to figure it out, but....

problem is: when itry to connect my camera(canon ps s2 is) to usb port it is recognised as digital still camera(befora it recognized model) and it serves me message above...

i already tried following:

1. again install all software - problem persists

2. everything in device manager(updating driver, unistalling) - problem persists

3. rebooting comp. million times:o

4. tried camera on a different comp. - problem persists

5. written to canon tech support and message was:In response to your query, please test the camera on a second computer, and if you experience the same problem, it will require service. If not, you will have to contact Microsoft as Code 39 is a Microsoft error code. - do they think im stupid?

What version of windows are you running? What does the device manager show when it is plugged into a USB port?

I have an S3 and have no problems accessing the camera on an XP PC with or without the the software bundle.

You could use a card reader if you can't get this working.

Are you installing the software before connecting the camera?

Also, try another USB port.

Good Luck! ;)

A $5 card reader might be worth saving yourself the frustration of figuring it out.

Card reader is the way to go, absolutely.

i think card reader is an option, but not a solution to my problems...
so i am still trying to do my best, but...

it may be s3 i plugged in month ago, or my brothers web camera, but i have cleaned up registry from it, and still no sucess...

so anyone, any idea?

I was having problems connecting, this is what worked for me:

Posted by: "milaub"

I found something that worked for me. I had tried uninstalling my USB ports, reinstalling the software. None of that worked. Here's what did: I deleted the USB registry for the camera, and let it reinstall. To do this, click start, go to run, and type regedit. Then go to HK_LOCAL_MACHINE - then System - Then Current Control Set - Then Enum - Then USB. Then keep expanding all the folders under USB and as you click on the different items on the right, you'll see that each one is for some USB Perephrial you've plugged in to your USB ports. Find the one for your Canon Camera, (mine was Vid_04a9&Pid_30b5, but this may vary) and delete the entire folder for the entry. In order to do this, I had to right click on the folder and choose 'permissions' and then check 'allow full control'. Then restart, your camera should reinstall the next time you connect it and turn it on. Good luck!

The post above can be found in http://www.dcresource.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8365&highlight=recognized

There are 3 pages to the thread, read all 3, they have different solutions, one of which might help you, good luck.

I have never tried what tone is mentioning above but if this doesn't help then try deleting the device in device manager and then follow the instructions again on installing the software etc. I am not sure if it will allow you to delete it while it is plugged in but worth a try at least.
