I was looking for a ultra compact camera for taking pictures of kids, with the ability to print photos up to 8x10. I bought a Pentax Optio SV today, & already I fear I've made an error! The problem is the timelag between pressing the shutter & the camera actually taking the picture - its about 3 seconds. This is way to slow for taking pictures of kids - what I see on the LCD screen bears no relation to what actually results. I've tried switching red-eye off etc, but no improvement. Is there anything I can do - or should I be quickly changing my christmas list, and if so what should I have considered instead of the Pentax?
Many thanks (a novice).

Three seconds seems way too long. You should probably think of exchanging the camera. Try Canon Powershot SD300. Here is what one of the members wrote about it on this forum:

"...One thing about the SD300 is it's very fast, starts fast, functions fast, and reviews fast..."

Are you using the flash?
