Any opinions please?

They all seem to have very similar features and other than the higher Pixels on the newer models and a couple of extra gizmos on the 640 I'm not sure if a newer version is worth the extra cash!

Additionally I know that an underwater housing is available for the 610/620. Does this mean it will work with the 630 and 640 also> As an avid diver I want to be sure that the underwater housing will be available for the model I go with eventually.

Many thanks for any imput.

I think you should get the A630. It improves on the A620 (which i have) and can be had for around $200 or less. The 2.5 inch screen, and a few added features make it a great buy, along with image quality as good as the A620/620

I don't think you can go wrong; my current camera is an A610, and I really like it. Seems to take very nice photos, and I like the form factor a great deal.

I went with the A640 to get the greater Mpixel, which gets you a little more detail (assuming you keep motion blur, focus, ISO noise, and etc to a minimum). That said, all the cameras you mention are good and you can't really go wrong.

I have the Canon A620 and it is a great camera, did a lot of research before I bought it almost a year ago. After I purchased it none of the local and online store were selling it until it was reintroduced last month, hopefully Canon got rid of the common E18 error. The only con I had with it is there isn't IS which I need because I have an active toddler and don't care to use tripods.

However, if you really want to use it underwater I would look into the compatibilities with the case before you buy the A640 to be on the safe side. Otherwise the A620 would be a solid choice.
