hi guys,

i've noticed on the lansmate site that they claim they've designed the adapter in a way to remove the vignetting (logially by making them shorter)
can anyone please measure the length of the adapter, to compare it to the canon's? i had to shorten the canon's in order to remove some vignetting when wide angle used, but i kinda damaged it.
is it shorter than canon's? in case someone has them both!

thanks alot,

dorin

Hello Dorin,

Here's a quote from Lensmates FAQ's..............

2. What's the length of the Lensmate S2 IS / S3 IS 58mm adapter?
1.697" or 43.1mm. This is exactly the same length as the Canon LA-DC58E (or LAH-DC20).

I recently purchased the Raynox SRW-6600-58LE (58mm), 23mm wide angle in silver for my S2. I have two Lensmate 52mm and two 58mm adapters. I have ablolutely no vignetting through out the entire range with either adapter, even with the wide angle. Of course the 1540PRO vignettes at a somewhat shorter focal length, but I have no reason to go short when using the telephoto. I would use the cameras zoom in that case. It was stated by Raynox that this WA converter would only work on the Canon adapter. I made the purchase only after I verified with Susan at Lensmate, that their 58mm adapter was identical to the Canon. Lens works great.

Hope this helps.

Best Wishes,

hi there,

the problem was with vignetting when uv and cpl filters attached and the hood was there even worst.

i bought a rowa wide angle (only 50usd with shipping to EU) and on its adapter it had a black corner.

BUT, i bought a tiny sanding paper adapter, put it on the drilling machine, and after 3 min i had a shorter lens adapter (fixed this time, after the damage made by uneven knife cuts) and no vignetting what so ever.

but honestly i think its stupid to make the lens adapter so short. only by attaching uv and cpl i used to get slight vignetting. make them short, and problem solved! kinda...still slight vigneting when hodd used at wide angle.

cheers,

dorin
